The Parent Memorial Scholarship Foundation
For scholarship awards for the year 2010, the Parent Memorial Scholarship Foundation invites applications from economically disadvantaged students who have succeeded in gaining admission to a university. The students who are qualified to enter the faculties of Medicine, Engineering, Management and Law, Science, Maths and Arts) are eligible to apply for these annual scholarships. This series of scholarships were initiated in 2006 under the guidance of Venerable Dr Mirisse Dhammika Thera in the memory of the late Mr Wijayasena Kiriwattuduwa a principal and Justice of Peace. Complimenting the objectives of this foundation a number of philanthropic devotees and well wishers have been instrumental in increasing the number of scholarships from year to year.  One hundred needy students have already benefited from these scholarships so far.
PMSF invites students who have gained admission to a university wishing to be considered for a scholarship  to submit self - prepared applications to reach PMSF on or  before March 31, together with the following documents.
1. GCE ‘A’ level examination results certified by the principal.
2. A letter from the Grama Sevaka containing particulars of the applicant’s family such as the number of family members, their monthly income, sources of income including Samurdhi etc.
3 A testimonial from the chief of the religious institute of the village in which the applicant is permanently resident.
4. A letter written in the applicant’s own handwriting outlining economical hardships of his family.
5. The self-prepared application under the applicant’s signature should contain the full name, address, date of birth, NIC number, telephone numbers (self / relatives /neighbours’), the  number of family members and their occupations and the reason for applying for these scholarship.
N.B. A certified letter issued by the university which had admitted the student, confirming his/her studentship is also required immediately after the applicant’s registration as a student of that university.
